Price

The initial price of the P4 was 1,650 Reichsmarks for the standard model and 1,880 Reichsmarks for the semi-convertible. Since the end of 1936, both the sedan and the semi-convertible were sold at the Winter Price for 1,450 Reichsmarks. The car was available to a large part of the population with an average monthly income of 250 Reichsmarks.

The van was sold for 1890 Reichsmarks.

Body and chassis

The body is a thin metal shell on a wooden frame and is located on a frame of p-shaped spars. The front and rear axles are mounted on springs and are supplemented with hydraulic shock absorbers. The pads of the mechanical brakes are driven by a cable from both the pedal and the hand lever of the parking brake.

Initially, only two colors were available - gray and navy blue, each with black wings. The hinged top of the semi-convertible was made of gray canvas.

The dashboard is equipped with two large yellow circular indicators with green backlight, which include a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and oil gauge. Also on the panel are the switches for headlights, wiper and turn indicators. To the right of the appliances is the glove compartment.

A spare tire is installed on the right wing.

Engine

The engine was created on the basis of the four-cylinder engine of the Opel 1,2 liter car with water cooling, lateral arrangement of valves, a working volume of 1.1 liters. The new P4 engine was designed with slightly less long-stroke pistons. It had 67.5 mm cylinders and a stroke equal to 75 mm, unlike the 65 and 90 mm predecessors. The engine has a power of 23 hp at 3400 rpm. The car can reach a top speed of 85 km / h.

A similar engine was installed until 1940 on the Opel Kadett [1] . After the war, its modification was completed with Moskvich-400 .

The car has rear-wheel drive. Fuel is supplied by a gasoline pump mounted on the engine. The consumption of conventional gasoline with a low octane rating is 8-10 liters per 100 km. A 25 liter gas tank is located behind the rear axle.

The electrical system is powered by a 6-volt battery installed under the front seat. The starter is driven by the foot pedal [2] .
