Story
The plot originates 4 years after the fall of the meteorite that carries the virus, which irreversibly changes the molecular structure of the human body, turning it into a monstramutant. In an attempt to stop the infection, which already covered 3 percent of the world's population, the Committee of the Universal Resolution of Ecocatastrophe, CURE, created a unit of soldiers whose bodies were strengthened by the introduction of nanomachines into the blood. At the right moment, nanomachines leave the soldier’s body through the pores, forming armor that significantly increases its capabilities, right up to landing without a parachute. There are rumors among NBO fighters about the latest development - weapons capable of destroying monsters without any risk. None of them know that the "secret weapon" is a girl named Ai ( seiyu - Yukari Tamura ), who with the help of special equipment can bring to life a huge creature of an energetic nature. Being one of a kind, she is under constant supervision, in fact, in custody. When during the next operation, the infected ones suddenly begin to merge into one creature, the situation gets out of control, and CURE decides to try out AI's capabilities in action. The test is successful, an energy creature easily destroys a monster.
The NBO soldier Yuji Tamiya (seiyu - Jo Odagiri ), injured during the last operation, has already fully recovered, but is in quarantine , like everyone who came into contact with the infected. His blood tests show that the M34 virus not only got into his blood, but also evolved, thanks to which it can now destroy nanomachines. CURE decides to arrest Yuji as a potential threat. Upon learning of this, he tries to escape, taking Ai hostage. On the run, his condition worsens, but Ai, using his strength, completely cures him. Soon after, they were discovered by the CURE troops, and Ai, although he did not want to return to the laboratory, agreed to go with them, believing that it would be better for everyone. Meanwhile, other NBO fighters also found themselves infected with a new type of virus that destroys their nanomachines. Yuji is forced to fight immediately against them and the CURE units sent to eliminate them. Thanks to the intervention of Ai, the threat can be eliminated. However, the outbreak increases and the virus continues to evolve, mimicking the abilities given by nanomachines. Ai is struggling to cope with a new huge monster, while the NBO squads liquidate the rest.
At the end of the anime, you can see Ai’s dossier, which indicates that she lost her ability, but it is obvious that her strength has already begun to return. Obviously, both protagonists no longer serve in CURE and spend their free time together.

| The nanomachines in Yuji's body block the virus, and it prepares to return to duty. The remaining NBO fighters meanwhile again face a huge monster, but the calculation of support from AI is not justified. Her abilities are too unstable, and to destroy the monster you have to burn a section with a radius of 2 kilometers with an incendiary bomb . The virus mutates and begins to destroy nanomachines. CURE tries to take Yuji into custody, but he takes Ai hostage and runs with her. Later, other NBO soldiers join them. Ai are forced to return to the base, and the NBO is quarantined in a small research center. | |||

| M35, a new virus capable of not only destroying nanomachines, but also simulating the opportunities they provide, completely affects the entire composition of the NBO, except for Yuji. CURE unsuccessfully tries to destroy them with robots armed with automatic weapons, rockets and flamethrowers . Upon learning of this, Ai insists on a flight to the scene and manages to stop the shelling used by CURE as a last resort. NBO soldiers appear in the frame, but whether they are alive cannot be determined. At this time, information comes about the mass appearance on the streets of infected M35. | |||
| four | Presence | November 3, 2001 | |
| AI calls to prevent threats. Yuji once again escapes from the hospital and joins the participating NBOs. The helicopter from AI is crashed and stands right in the center of the danger zone. The imitation of nanobron allows the new giant monster to resist Ai's strength, but it destroys it by concentrating the force of the blow at one point. | |||
Criticism
Reviewers note the cliché of the plot and the emphasis on the romantic line, which is usually unusual for sci-fi action movies, [1] [2] which, in view of the OVA format of the series, also failed to get a decent development. [3] Animation has also been criticized. Dynamic frames look awful because of the perceived presence of a small number of frames per second. [2] “Sloppy” 3D frames and “sloppy” drawn 2D in combination look even worse than individually. [3] The only positive thing about the series was its soundtrack . [3]
