Hunfer Papyrus
Papyrus is a copy of the Book of the Dead , which is one of the classic examples of such Egyptian texts. Presented today at the British Museum with accession number EA 9901. [4] Initially, it was 5.5 meters long and 39 cm wide, but today the papyrus is cut into 8 parts for better preservation.
In addition to the papyrus, Hunfer preserved a statuette where this folded papyrus was stored. In the mid-19th century, it was bought by the French doctor and collector Antoine-Barthelemy Clough (1793-1868) from the tomb raiders. In 1852, he donated papyrus to the British Museum, where it was cut into 8 parts and placed under glass [2] .
