The river is 25 km long [4] . It takes its source from the small mountain lake Kaygytgyn , west of the Zubchataya mountain [5] , flows in a southwest direction to the confluence with the Bering Sea (Kaygygytgynvayam estuary). It has a mountainous character, the flow velocity in the gorge is 2 m / s [6] .

The name translated from Koryak is β€œthe river of a small lake” [7] .
