Division History

Formed in July 1914 from the frame of the 3rd Infantry Division . It became part of the 1st Army of the North-Western Front . October 11, 1914 subordinate to the commander of the 10th Army of the North-Western Front.

The Osovets fortress on Beaver was also part of the 12th apmi section with a garrison consisting of 3 regiments of the 57th division, advanced in January to the left flank of the 10th army to Shchuchin and then broken by General Litzman's 7th and 8th bypass convoy February on the river Pisek and under Byala. At the same time, the division, due to persistence, lost up to 50% of its composition and 2 batteries: it went with two regiments through Schuchin to Osovets, and the third regiment through Lomza there. The fourth, "Livensky" regiment of this division was part of the Verzhbolovskaya group and at the beginning of the operation could not be returned to the garrison.
