History
The first written records refer to 1245. In 1480 a gothic stone castle was built. During the Thirty Years War, the city was plundered by Swedish troops, but the castle was not taken.
Geography
Located 10 km north of the town of Klatovy , on the Uglava River , at an altitude of 374 m above sea level.
Population
The population according to 2012 is 1680 people [2] . According to the 2001 census, 97.6% of the city’s population were Czechs; 1.1% are Ukrainians and 0.6% are Slovaks. 36% of the population considered themselves believers. The proportion of persons under the age of 15 years - 14.1%. Population dynamics by year:
