History

The first written records refer to 1245. In 1480 a gothic stone castle was built. During the Thirty Years War, the city ​​was plundered by Swedish troops, but the castle was not taken.

Geography

Located 10 km north of the town of Klatovy , on the Uglava River , at an altitude of 374 m above sea level.

Population

The population according to 2012 is 1680 people [2] . According to the 2001 census, 97.6% of the city’s population were Czechs; 1.1% are Ukrainians and 0.6% are Slovaks. 36% of the population considered themselves believers. The proportion of persons under the age of 15 years - 14.1%. Population dynamics by year:
