Biography
Debbouz is the eldest of six children in a Moroccan family who moved to live in the Paris suburb of Trapp. The actor today is one of the most popular in France.
At the beginning of his career, he was noticed by Alain Degua, nicknamed Grandpa - the head of the Declix Theater - the theater group of the Merisier district in Trapp. There Debbouz made his first acting steps and even reached the final of the French Championship among juniors, held by the French League of Theater Improvisation .
In January 1990 (at age 14), Jamel suffered critical damage to his right hand: he and a friend hurried to the bus, ran across the rails of the Paris metro at Trapp station and did not notice the train approaching. A train moving at a speed of 150 km / h shot down the boys. As a result of the accident, the right hand of the future artist atrophied and stopped developing, hanging from his shoulder, like a whip. Since then, he almost always holds his right hand in his pocket. His friend, Jean-Paul Admett, died under that train and Jean's parents accused Jamel of manslaughter, but the fact of guilt was refuted, and young Jamel was soon acquitted.
In 1995, Jean-Francois Bizot and Jacques Massadyan , the leaders of Radio Nova , noticed Debbouz and asked him to keep a daily column. Debbuz made his television debut in the Paris Premiere program, then switched to the program Nowhere Elsewhere and became the favorite of Canal + . In parallel with this, he made his first solo show.
Debbuz began acting in films in the early 1990s, his first films were short films. In 1998, the actor appeared in the drama 'Zone' ('Zonzon'), a year later - in the comedy “ Sky, birds and ... your mother ” ( Le ciel, les oiseaux, ... et ta mère! ).
The film “ Amelie ” in 2001, as well as the adventure film “ Asterix and Obelix: Cleopatra's Mission ”, which he co-starred in the same year, brought fame on large screens.
In 2004, he was entrusted with carrying the Olympic flame in Paris.
He also starred in such films as “ Angel-A ” 2005, “ Patriots ” ('Indigènes) 2006, “ Asterix at the Olympics ” and “ Tell me about the rain ” in 2008 and others.
In 2010, he directed the cartoon Evolution (Pourquoi j'ai pas mangé mon père) and voiced the role of the main character Edward in it. In 2012, Debbuz played in the family adventure film “The Jungle's Name! In Search of the Marsupilas ”and in the melodrama“ Kaleidoscope of Love ”. By 2013, the filmography of the actor has about 30 films, Debbuz has already acted as a producer in at least five films.
Personal life
On May 7, 2008, Jamel married the French journalist and TV presenter Melissa Terot , and on December 3 of the same year, their son Leon was born. September 30, 2011 they had a daughter, Leela.
