Razhavoldi, Istvan

István Rožavoldi ( Hungarian István Rózsavölgyi ; March 30, 1929 , Budapest - January 27, 2011 ) - Hungarian track and field athlete , world record holder, bronze medalist of the Summer Olympics in Rome (1960) in the 1,500 meter race.

Sports career

He trained under the guidance of coach Mihai Igloi. One of the best runners in Europe in the middle distance of the 1950s. He was the world record holder at distances: 1000 m - 2.19.0 (1955), 1500 m - 3.40.6 (1956), 2000 m - 5.02.2 (1955). He played for the sports society "Honved" (Budapest).

At the Melbourne Summer Games (1956) he was not in the best shape, four years later in Rome became the bronze medalist at a distance of 1500 m. In 1962 he finished his sports career.
