Orenburg Postal Route - the road between Simbirsk and through the crossing to Samara on the left bank of the Volga , passes through the territory of Samara Bows .
Description
The Orenburg Postal Route was created in the 18th century in connection with the beginning of the postal service in Orenburg . A road was built where the Cossack tract passed, cattle driving and trade roads laid by nomads. The tract was considered the largest for that time. Width from 200 to 300 meters, length 320 km. Stone milestones were installed along the entire length, at the intersections there were signs, the so-called “hands,” state wells were excavated after about 25 km (some still operate).
The route was for Samara bows and the province as a whole - transit and was the main road. Connected between Moscow and the eastern provinces of the empire. On the territory of Samara onions, it passed through the villages of Rozhdestveno , Novinki, Shelekhmet, Rodnikovy, Askuli, Sosnovy Solonets, Shafts, Zhiguli .
After the opening of the left-bank variant of the tract (January 1, 1855 ), mostly prisoners were driven through the territory of Samara bows. Therefore, in the villages of Sosnovy Solonets and Zhiguli, prison infirmaries and premises for temporary detention of prisoners were built.
Currently, sections of the road from Shelekhmeti to Rozhdestveno, from the village of Valy to the village of Zhiguli are asphalted, from Shelekhmeti to the village of Askuli, you can only move in winter, and from the village of Sosnovy Solonets to Valov the road is an “improved primer”.
