Biography

Orthodox. The third son of the cavalry general Count Illarion Ivanovich Vorontsov-Dashkov and his wife Elizabeth Andreevna Shuvalova (1845-1924).

At the end of the Page Corps in 1st category in 1898, he was released as a cornet in the Life Guards of the Hussars of His Majesty's Regiment .

Ranks: lieutenant (1902), staff captain (1906), captain (1910), colonel (1913).

In 1909-1914 he was adjutant to Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich , while remaining on the lists of the Hussar Regiment. On August 23, 1914 he was appointed commander of the Kabardian cavalry regiment , with whom he participated in the First World War . He was awarded the St. George arms

 For the fact that, as the commander of the Kabardian cavalry regiment, in the battle on September 10, 1915 during combat intelligence on the river. Strype, in order to determine the location of the enemy on the front of the division, commanding two companies of the 128th Infantry Starooskolsky infantry regiment, 6 guns and two cavalry regiments, successfully completed the reconnaissance assigned to him, and taking a height of 392 made it possible to firmly gain a foothold on the entire front and develop subsequently successful promotion in neighboring sections of the 11th building. 

March 24, 1916 returned to the post of adjutant of Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich, with the abandonment of the guards cavalry.

During the Civil War he participated in the White Movement as part of the All-Union Socialist League and the Volunteer Army . Participated in the organization of the Terek uprising . In May 1920 he arrived in Crimea .

In exile in France. He died in 1932 in Paris. He was buried in the cemetery of Saint-Genevieve-des-Bois .

He was married to Irina Vasilyevna Naryshkina (1880-1917), maid of honor of the court (1898); the daughter of the famous St. Petersburg rich man Vasily Lvovich Naryshkin (1841-1909) from a marriage with Princess Theodora Pavlovna Orbeliani (1852-1930). Tall, well-built, dark-skinned, like all the Naryshkins, Irina, according to the memoirs of Yu. A. Olsufiev , had great charm and was always friendly, sweet and simple. β€œThere was always something sad in her deep, black eyes” [2] . After a divorce in 1913, she married Major General Prince S.A. Dolgoruky . According to the official version, she died of pneumonia, according to another version she committed suicide due to a breakdown with her second husband. Children:

  • Count Roman Illarionovich Vorontsov-Dashkov (08.28.1901, Tsarskoye Selo - 12. 11. 1993, USA). In his first marriage he was married to Henrietta Juliette Auden (1894-1979). Divorced in 1928. In his second marriage (since 1975) he was married to American Elizabeth Carolina Sadtler. I had no children. In exile he worked as a hotel manager.

He lived in exile in France , worked as an engineer. He was fond of Freemasonry , a member of the lodge Astrey (1965), her gatekeeper, standard bearer (1975-1976).
