Megan Simister ( English Meaghan Simister , November 10, 1986 , Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian nanny who played for the Canadian national team from 2000 to 2010. Participant of two winter Olympic games, multiple medalist of the national championship.

Biography

Megan Simister was born on November 10, 1986 in Regina , Saskatchewan . She began to actively engage in luge at the age of thirteen, in 2000 she was selected for the national team and began to take part in various international competitions. In the 2003/04 season, she made her debut at the stages of the adult World Cup, taking overall eighteenth place, in addition, for the first time she participated in the races of the adult world championship, showing the sixteenth result on the Japanese Nagano track. The following season, she finished twenty-second at the world championship in American Park City, and after finishing all the cup stages she was placed in the world ranking of the strongest sleds on the twenty-eighth line.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, the Simister won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , planned to compete for medals there, but she crashed during the third attempt and, having received minor damage, was forced to refuse to continue to participate in the competition. Nevertheless, the cup cycle, despite injuries, was able to finish in nineteenth place.

At the 2007 World Championships in Austria, Eagles finished eighteenth, while in the overall standings of the World Cup she was placed in twenty-third position. A year later, at the world championship in Oberhof, Germany, she took ninth place, and this is her best result in adult world championships. In the cup ranking at the end of the season was twenty-eighth. In 2009, at the world championship in American Lake Placid, she finished eighteenth, at the World Cup she showed the thirteenth result, a year later she closed the top twenty. I went to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Home Olympic Games, but despite the lengthy preparations for this particular route, I managed to get to only the twenty-fifth position. Immediately after this failure, Megan Simister decided to end the career of a professional athlete, giving way to young Canadian sledges. Now lives with his family in the city of Calgary , in his free time he loves to read and draw.
