It is located west of Tver , 7 km from the village of Migalovo , on the right bank of the Volga . Near the village of Krasnovo .
The population according to the census of 2002 is 69 people, 31 men, 38 women.
History
In the List of Populated Places of 1859 [1], the owner village Fleno-Sergeevskoye (Matavino, Chernigino), 14 yards, 129 residents. In the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries, the village belonged to the Migalovsky parish of the Nikulinsky volost of the Tver district .
In the 1930s and 40s, the village of Motavino belonged to the Krasnovsky village council as part of the Kalinin district of the Kalinin region , and in the 1950s and 60s to the Danilov village council.
During World War II (December 1941), fierce battles were fought for the liberation of the city of Kalinin in the village area. The 246th Infantry Division of the 29th Army several times tried to take possession of Motavino and finally liberated the village on December 16, 1941.
At the fronts, 10 residents of Motavino died [2] .
In the 1970s and 80s, the village brigade of the Danilovskoye collective farm was in the village. In 1997, the village has 38 households, 78 residents. Recently, many agricultural lands around the village have been bought up for resale for cottage development.
