Biography
Arthur Nielsen was born on September 5, 1897 in Chicago in a family of emigrants from Denmark , Rasmus and Harriet Nielsen. In 1918 he graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin (now the University of Wisconsin in Madison ), receiving a bachelor 's degree ( Bachelor of Science ) and the highest average mark in the history of the University - 95.8 [4] . He was in the engineering society of honor society Tau Beta Pi , in the Sigma Fi society, from 1916 to 1918 he was the captain of the university tennis team [3] . After graduation, he served in the US Navy reserve .
He devoted his whole life to working at the ACNielsen company he created. He also carried a hobby for tennis throughout his life: he played a lot until he was 80 years old [5] , and provided large financial assistance for the development of this sport. Died June 1, 1980 in Chicago .

Wife - Gertrude B. Smith ( Gertrude B. Smith ) (since 1918) Three daughters, two sons, the first of whom was named after his father - Arthur Charles Nielsen Jr. (1920-2011 [6] ), it was he who replaced his father as president of ACNielsen in 1957 [4] .
Career
In 1919-1920 he worked as an electrical engineer at the Isko Company , and from 1920 to 1923 - at the HP Gould Company .
