Ufa State Circus

The first (temporary) circus building appeared in 1906 on Verkhnetorgovaya Square (now Gostiny Dvor ). Soon, with the funds of the Ufa merchant D. E. Klyauznikov, the first capital building of the circus was built at 67 Uspenskaya Street.

The modern circus building opened in 1968. Built according to the standard design of the Moscow Institute " Giproteatr " (architects Salome Maximovna Gelfer and Georgy Vasilievich Napreenko, designer V. Kornilov). In the next 7 years, circuses built on the same project were opened in Samara, Donetsk , Perm , Krivoy Rog , Novosibirsk , Lugansk, Voronezh , Kharkov , Bryansk ). Design capacity - 2047 viewers. The circus had a large arena, a high arch for various acrobatic performances. There were also dressing rooms, domestic rooms for artists and rooms for animals. The circus also had a hostel "Arena". Hamil Khammatov became the first director of the circus.

The first performance in the circus took place on November 5, 1968 under the program of Teresa Durova . Subsequently, such famous clowns as the Pencil , Yuri Nikulin and Oleg Popov , the illusionist Igor Kio , trainers T.V. Durova, Walter and Mstislav Zapashny , Nikolai Pavlenko performed in the circus.

In 1970, on the initiative of the Bashkir Regional Committee of the CPSU, a studio for the preparation of the professional troupe “Bashkir National Circus Team” was opened at the Ufa State Circus, the first performance of which was held on September 7, 1973 with the play “Tsveti, Bashkiria” (screenwriters and directors N. P. Barzilovich and I. I. Devyatkin). In addition to performances in the Ufa circus, the troupe toured the USSR and foreign countries with national programs “From Heart to Heart” (1979), “Sabantuy at the Manege” (1984), “Arena of Friendship” (1989) and others. The band broke up in 1991 .

In 1973-1991, the Ufa State Circus was a member of the creative and production association Soyuzgostsirk, and since 1991 it became part of the Rosgoskirk company. Since 2008, the Ufa State Circus has been a branch of the Rosgosirc Circuit .

In 1993-1994, the circus building was closed for repairs. June 12, 1994, shortly before the planned opening, a visor collapsed near the building. No one was hurt, but the discovery was delayed for the duration of the investigation and the restoration of the visor.

The circus is a favorite entertainment center for group visits to schoolchildren and children from orphanages ^[1] , and in Soviet times, soldiers of the Ufa garrison also watched performances. Today the Ufa circus is one of the top five best circuses in Russia ^[2] . The Presidential and Stolichnaya Christmas trees of Bashkortostan are held here annually, pop artists of Bashkortostan and Russia often perform, circus troupes from other cities and countries give performances. Charity performances are also held ^[3] .

The audit found that the use of the building is unsafe for its visitors. Since May 2017, the circus has been closed for repairs.
