Grigory Sergeevich Medvedev ( March 5, 1904 - November 17, 1938 ) - Soviet Udmurt writer. The author of the novel-trilogy "Lozinsky field." In May 1937 he was repressed, rehabilitated posthumously in 1956 [1] .

Biography
Grigory Medvedev was born on March 5, 1904 in a peasant family in the village of Malye Lyzy, Malolyzinsky rural settlement, Kazan province (now the Baltasinsky district of Tatarstan ). After graduating from elementary school in 1919, he studied at teacher training courses [2] .
In 1925 he graduated from the pedagogical school in Mozhga . He worked as a teacher in the Bolshekibinskaya rural school, then as a school principal (ShKM) in the village of Sharkan, Sharkan district .
Since 1929 he worked in the newspaper " Goodyri " as a literary employee, head of the departments of agriculture, literature and art.
In 1934 he entered the Udmurt State Pedagogical Institute (USPI) at the Faculty of Language and Literature.
He was a member of the board of the Union of Writers of the Ukrainian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , in August 1934 - together with M. Konovalov and Kedra Mitrei - took part in the First Congress of Soviet Writers .
In May 1937, he was illegally repressed as a member of a counter-revolutionary group for relations with the “ Gerdovites ” and exiled to the village of Berelyokh, Magadan Region , where he was tragically killed on November 17, 1938 . Rehabilitated posthumously in 1956.
Activities
Medvedev’s first work, the story “Berpum University” (The Last Product), was published in the Gudyri newspaper in 1925. He penned collections of short stories and essays “Ez Yubo Kırӟa” (Telegraph poles are sung), “Etin Assault” (Linen Assault) and others.
The main work of Medvedev was the trilogy novel “Lӧzia besmen” (Lozinsky field) about the life of Udmurt villages during the crucial period of collectivization . Critics compare the idea and theme of this novel with the novel by M. A. Sholokhov, " Virgin Soil Upturned ."
Grigory Sergeevich Medvedev was also involved in the translation of literary works from Russian into Udmurt languages.
