Lentils ( lat. Lens ) is a genus of herbaceous plants of the legume family ( Fabaceae ), including several species from the Mediterranean , Asia Minor , Transcaucasia, and Central Asia .

Low-growing herbaceous plants.

Stem strongly branched.

The leaves are pinoperous, successive.

The flowers are small, white or bluish.

Fruit - short, flattened on both sides of the bean , containing one to three seeds .
