Biography
Constance Manziarli was born on April 14, 1920 in Innsbruck , Austria . Her father was Greek , her mother was Austrian. After graduating from a real school, Manziarli studied at a budgetary educational institution as a nutritionist . In 1943, she got a job with Adolf Hitler [1] . Manziarli was Hitler's personal chef during their stay in the Fuhrerbunker [2] .
Together with Gerda Christian and Traudl Junge, on April 22, 1945, Manziarli received personal permission from Hitler to leave the Führerbunker, but, nevertheless, all three women remained with the Führer until his suicide [3] .
On May 1, 1945, at about half past eight in the evening, Manziarli left the Führerbunker as part of a group led by SS brigadeführer Wilhelm Monke . The group also included Hitler's personal pilot, Hans Baur , gruppenfuhrer Hans Rattenhuber , secretaries Gerda Christian , Traudl Junge and [4] .
The future fate of Manziarli is known only from the words of Traudl Junge: in 1989, Junge claimed that the last time she saw Manziarli in a group of four women who were supposed to deliver an important report to Karl Dönitz , but at some point due to the turmoil, the group broke up, and Manziarli tried to mingle with a crowd of local women. However, in her book “ Until the Last Minute, ” she claims that she saw Manziarli for the last time on May 2, when the nutritionist went to the Berlin underground with Soviet soldiers, saying that “ They want to see my documents ” [5] (Junge in the book indicates that Mantsiarli, having swollen cheeks, could well be mistaken for Russian soldiers by Soviet soldiers). She never saw her again.
