Spiatre , shpate (Polish. Szpeat - “mixture”) - a generic name for alloys of various non-ferrous metals : copper , zinc , nickel , tin ; sometimes zinc with added lead and iron .
There is no exact recipe for the alloy . The most common concept of the meaning of the word “spyatre” is zinc and various zinc alloys used in the art industry of the 19th and first third of the 20th centuries as substitutes for bronze . Also used as a substitute for silver alloys. The main difference between a spy alloy and bronze is the presence of metals such as zinc and nickel in the alloy.
