Biography

John Freeman began the struggle against the capitalist system in the United States, where he was a member of the Industrial Workers of the World trade union, participated in strikes, and sharply criticized the opportunist leadership of the American Federation of Labor. He was an anarcho-syndicalist .

Fleeing repression, fled to Australia, where he continued to promote the ideals of the "Industrial Workers of the World", met with the Russian emigrant revolutionary Artyom.

Freeman thrown into prison by Australian authorities for vigorous defense of Soviet Russia Freeman went on hunger strike. The Australian government sent John Freeman from the country to Germany .

He managed to get into the USSR and began to get acquainted with the life of the young republic.

Freeman understood the fallacy of the views of the leaders of the IRM, in particular their course on the rejection of the political struggle. He became a communist , participated in the II and III congresses of the Comintern in Moscow.

He died during the test of the car , returning from Tula to Moscow . Together with him, 7 people died, including the Bolshevik F. A. Sergeev (Artyom) .

He was buried on Red Square in Moscow in a mass grave .
