Vadakste ( lit. Vadakstis , Latvian. Vadakste ) is a river in southern Latvia and northern Lithuania , the right tributary of Venta . The length is 82.2 km, of which over 55 km the river forms the border between these states. The catchment area is 1230 km² [1] . It originates near the city of Auce , Latvia. It flows first in a southwest, and then in a westerly direction. It begins to flow along the border between Latvia and Lithuania from the village of Vegeryai. It flows into Venta, 184.2 km from its mouth, in the village of Grege, 2 km northwest of Lyackava.
