Bilal Philips ( born Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips ) (born January 6, 1946 , Kingston, Jamaica ) is a Salafi scholar-preacher and writer who now lives in Qatar . Performs on Peace TV , and other round-the-clock satellite TV channels.

Biography
Philips was born on January 6, 1946 in Kingston ( Jamaica ), and grew up in Toronto ( Canada ), where he turned to Islam in 1972 (the book “ Islam, The Misunderstood Religion ” by Muhammad Qutb , the younger brother of Said Qutb, was of great importance to young Philips. After that, the purpose of his life was the search and transfer of knowledge about Islam in order to “Change the Muslim nation through an Islamic education.” He received religious education in Saudi Arabia. He was included in the list of “500 Most Influential Muslims” [1] .
In September 2014, Philips was detained in the Philippines in connection with allegations of extremism. Previously, he was expelled from Germany, the USA, Great Britain and Australia. Philips himself rejected all the accusations against him [2] .
In the issue of “ Dabika ” in April 2016, ISIS was named apostate and sentenced to death [3] .

Islamic Online University (IOU)
Perhaps his greatest achievement, for which he was included in the list of “500 Most Influential Muslims,” is the creation of the Islamic OnLine University (IOU), in which by the end of 2013 more than 150,000 students from more than 219 countries were studying. Unlike other educational institutions, the University created by Philips allows anyone from anywhere in the world to receive an Islamic education and, most importantly, for free.

Bilal Philips translated and commented on more than 50 books on Islam. He also edited and published 56 books of the Eemaan English Reading Series for Muslim children. He speaks a lot on TV channels:
