Lev Izrailevich Quin ( April 20, 1922 , Riga - February 27, 1996 , Barnaul ) - Russian writer, member of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation .

Biography
Leo Quinn was born in Riga in 1922, studied at the gymnasium in Daugavpils , and participated in the work of the underground Latvian Youth Workers Union. In 1940, Leo Quinn was arrested, released after Latvia joined the USSR.
Since 1941, he took part in the Great Patriotic War , fought on the North-West and 2nd Ukrainian fronts , participated in the liberation of Hungary .
After the war, he worked in the Soviet military administration in Budapest , as well as in a newspaper for the Austrian population in Vienna .
Since 1953 he lived in Barnaul , worked in the regional youth newspaper, in the regional committee on broadcasting and television.
He died on February 27, 1996 in Barnaul.
Creativity
Leo Queen has been published since 1950, when his story Leaflet was printed in an army newspaper. His first book is “Express to Budapest” ( 1955 ).
In total, the writer wrote about 50 books, including the novels “The City Does Not Sleep,” “Stars of the Alien Side,” “A Rusty Trap on a Green Field,” the novel “In Those Days,” “X, Game, Z,” “We Who blockheads ”, plays“ High in the Blue Sky ”,“ Spies Around ”,“ Who is to Blame ”, memoirs“ Queen Wilhelmina Street ”.
Quin's works are addressed mainly to children and youth, attracted by a sharp plot, depth of psychological characteristics, humor, accurate knowledge of details. The author worked in the genre of documentary prose (“Three Lives of Nikolai Strukov”, 1977 ; “Bitter Smoke of Bonfires”, 1978 ; “Characters and Fates”, 1988 ), dramaturgy (“Eccentric Man”, “High in the Blue Sky” 1976 , “ People are lucky! ” 1979 ), science fiction (“ It was, was not ” 1974 ).
His books were published in Barnaul, Novosibirsk , Tashkent, Yerevan, Moscow, abroad, his plays were performed in different cities of the country.
In addition to his own creativity, Lev Izrailevich Quin translated works of art from German, Latvian, and English.
L. I. Queen was the secretary of the Altai Writing Organization, a member of the editorial board and editor of the Altai magazine, a member of the editorial board of the Barnaul magazine, and was elected a member of the board of the joint venture of the RSFSR.
Philatelic activity
Leo Izrailevich Queen was a philatelist , a member of the board of the regional branch of the All-Union Society of Philatelists [1]
Awards
He was awarded the Order of World War I , Red Star , “Badge of Honor” , three orders of the Hungarian People's Republic, and medals.
Memory
In 1999, in Barnaul, on the wall of the House under the spire , where Lev Israilevich Quinn lived, a memorial plaque was opened [2] .
