DDP ( Disc Description Protocol , di-di , English Disc Description Protocol ) is a professional interchange format used by the mastering industry to determine the content of Optical discs , including CD and DVD . This format is accepted as the main one for replication of master disks by almost all companies. The proprietary format is proprietary to DCA, Inc. , the specification is not freely available.

DDP-file contains different types of information about the disk, for example, about the file structure, the name of the artist. Only 4 parts [1] :

  1. Audio images (.DAT files)
  2. DDPID (DDP identifiers)
  3. DDPMS (DDP stream descriptor)
  4. PQDESCR (additional descriptor code)

The contents of the additional text file can also include the names of the compositions and their time (duration).
