Biography and career
He worked at CNRS ( 1946 - 1949 ), taught in Poitiers , Algeria , Toulouse , Sorbonne ( 1961 - 1966 ), Nice ( 1967 - 1971 ). He defended his doctoral dissertation on the work of English metaphysical poets ( 1959 ). From 1975 - in the New Sorbonne , in 1986 - 1991 he was president of the university, currently - professor emeritus.
Honorary President of the Society of University Anglosts and the Society of Anglo-American Studies of the XVII-XVIII centuries., Vice-President of the Shakespeare Society of France.
Literary and scientific work
The author of poems in English, written in imitation of the poets of the XVII century. and approved by T. S. Eliot ( [1] ). He owns translations and commentary editions of the works of Shakespeare , Christopher Marlo , J. Ford , John Donne , Keats , Shelley , works on English literature and theater of the XVII and XIX centuries.
