Channel History
In early February 2011, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the establishment of the Ashgabat TV channel in Turkmenistan [5] . The channel began broadcasting its programs in October 2011, when Turkmenistan celebrated its 20th anniversary of independence. Broadcasting takes place 15 hours a day through a terrestrial and satellite communications system [5] .
Ashgabat devotes most of its airtime to covering the political, social, and cultural life of the city of Ashgabat .
