Essay on Biography and Creativity
He studied at the Padua and Bologna universities. He defended his master's thesis in arts (magister artium) in Padua on May 15, 1409, the master's degree in medicine (magister medicinae) in the same place on April 15, 1411. In 1412 he lived in Montagna , where he wrote a number of scientific works. In the years 1420–28 he taught various scientific disciplines in Padua, including in 1422 he founded the Department of Astronomy at the University of Padua. In his treatises on music, he generalized the doctrine of menzural rhythmic (and notation) of the Italian style [3] , the doctrine of harmony and counterpoint [4] . In the framework of the doctrine of the monochord, he explained the chromatic expansion (with the help of musica ficta) of the musical sound system up to five sharps and five flats (see the fifth circle ) [5] . The main authorities of the Procluded are Boethius and John de Muris . More complicated was the attitude of Leaky towards his famous compatriot Marchetto of Padua . Recognizing Marquetto's merits in the theory of menstrual rhythm and in the theory of frets , He provoked sharp criticism of his five-part division of the whole tone as mathematically untenable [6] .
Reception
Proceedings were provisionally reprinted after his death. On the basis of the teachings, the Procrastinator developed his theory of harmony and counterpoint Ugolino Orviet . In the sixteenth century, Luca Pacioli placed the Procrastinate on a par with Euclid and Boethius . A number of writings are provisionally kept in manuscripts of the Italian archives (not published).
