Biography
Semyon Vasilievich Gaidukov was born in 1925 in the village of Stepmother of the Khopersky district of the Stalingrad province of the RSFSR of the USSR (now the village of Kikvidzen district of the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation ) in the family of a peasant Vasily Andreyevich Gaidukov. Ukrainian . He graduated from seven classes of a rural school.
S.V. Gaidukov was drafted into the ranks of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army on February 7, 1943, by the Maceshan District Military Commissariat of the Stalingrad Region. In battles with the Nazi invaders, Private Gaidukov from March 7, 1943 in the position of gunner of the 1st machine gun company of the 349th Infantry Regiment of the 26th Infantry Division as part of the 11th and 34th armies of the North-Western Front (from July 1943 26th Infantry Division in front submission). He was baptized in battles near Staraya Russa . In August 1943, Simon Vasilyevich was wounded, but quickly returned to duty.
In connection with the disbandment of the North-Western Front in November 1943, the 26th Rifle Division was transferred to the 1st Shock Army of the 2nd Baltic Front . In February - early March 1944, Semyon Vasilievich participated in the Old Russian-Novorzhevskaya offensive operation of the front as part of the Leningrad-Novgorod strategic operation . In March, the division, in which Private Gaidukov served, was transferred to the 22nd Army and until the summer of 1944 fought positional battles along the German Panther defense line .
In June 1944, the 26th Infantry Division returned to the 1st Shock Army. In its composition, Private S.V. Gaidukov participated in the Rezhitsa-Dvina , Madona and Riga operations . During the Riga operation, the 26th Infantry Division was transferred to the 46th Army and took part in the Memel Operation of the 1st Baltic Front . From October 1944 until mid-January 1945, Semyon Vasilievich participated in the blockade of the Kurland enemy grouping .
On January 13, 1945, the East Prussian operation began . Private S.V. Gaidukov took part in the Insterburg-Königsberg operation of the 3rd Belorussian Front , then in the liquidation of the Zemland enemy grouping as part of the 1st Baltic Front, for which he was awarded the medal “For Courage” and promoted to corporal. On February 24, 1945, the 1st Baltic Front was transformed into the Zemland Task Force and, as such, was included in the 3rd Belorussian Front. In April 1945, Corporal S.V. Gaidukov took part in the Koenigsberg operation . Particularly distinguished Semyon Vasilievich during the assault on Konigsberg . On April 6, 1945, the 349th Rifle Regiment was to storm the city from the south. When breaking through the enemy’s defenses to the south-east of the village of Medgeten, Corporal S.V. Gaidukov with his machine gun climbed to the dominant height of 30.6 and opened heavy fire at it from German positions, destroying more than 60 German soldiers and officers. When breaking the second line of German trenches on the southern outskirts of the village of Medgeten, Semyon Vasilyevich destroyed 8 enemy soldiers and captured 6 more, after which he captured the headquarters of the mortar battery, where valuable documents were discovered. In subsequent battles for Konigsberg, Corporal S.V. Gaidukov was seriously wounded and evacuated to the hospital. He has not returned to the front. Semen Vasilyevich met the victory in the hospital.
On April 19, 1945, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Corporal Gaidukov Semyon Vasilyevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
After recovery, Semyon Vasilievich was demobilized and returned to his native places. He lived in the village of Ilovlya, Volgograd Region, worked as an inspector of the State Insurance of the RSFSR. He died on June 6, 1996. He was buried in the town of Ilovlya.
