Biography

Born on November 22, 1919 in the village of Korovkino (now the Palkinsky District, Pskov Region ) in a peasant family. Russian.

He lived in Pskov . In 1939 he graduated from the land management college.

In the Red Army since 1939. In 1941 he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Military Aviation Pilot Observer School .

Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. He fought on the South-Western, Southern, Western and 3rd Belorussian fronts . In 1942 he joined the VKP (b) . In East Prussia, in just one month, I photographed about 4 thousand square kilometers of enemy defenses and made more than 100 missions for reconnaissance of enemy military installations.

By April 1945, Senior Lieutenant Ivanov made 264 sorties, of which 150 sorties to the distant and near reconnaissance of defensive lines, airfields, troop congestions and railway traffic of the enemy. In the air battles personally shot down 5 aircraft. In March 1945 he was seriously wounded.

After the war, continued service in the army. Since 1956, Captain Ivanov - in stock. He lived in Pskov , worked as head of the statistical department of the regional executive committee. In 1970 he graduated from the Leningrad Agricultural Institute .

He died on May 4, 1986 . He was buried at the Orletsovskoye Cemetery of Pskov (honorary burial site).

Awards

  • By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945 for exemplary execution of command tasks and for showing courage and heroism in battles with fascist invaders, senior lieutenant Ivan Stepanovitch was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 8763 ).
  • He was also awarded two Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star, and medals.
