Leonid Ivanovich Gusev ( April 3, 1922 , the village of Vnukovo, Moscow province [1] - March 11, 2015 , Moscow ) is a Soviet scientist in the field of radio-technical systems for controlling spacecraft and telemetry of objects of scientific, national economic and defense purposes. Biography
Born into a peasant family; in 1931 the family moved to Moscow. He began his career as a turner at a tool factory.
In 1940 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army .
Throughout the war he went through a spotter, platoon commander in the artillery unit. He was twice wounded. He became a member of the CPSU . Demobilized in January 1947.
Since May 1948 he worked at the NII-885 as a picker. In 1949 he entered the evening department of the Faculty of Radio Communication Facilities and Systems of the Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of Communications and went to work in one of the laboratories as an engineer. After graduating from the institute in 1955, he was appointed head of the laboratory. In June 1959 he was appointed director of NII-695 of the State Committee under the Council of Ministers of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on Radio Electronics (later - All-Union Telecommunications Research Institute). Since 1963 - Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the USSR on Radio Electronics; Since 1964 - Deputy Minister of General Engineering . In 1965-2004 - Director of Research Institute-885 (since 1966 - Research Institute of Space Instrumentation, now - JSC "Russian Space Systems" ).
Since 1969, simultaneously with production activities, he held the position of head of the department at the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering and Automation , and since 1979 he was a professor.
From 2004 to 2008, he held the position of First Deputy General Director - General Designer of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Research Institute of Space Instrument Making”. From 2008 to the last days, he was an adviser to the general director of the Russian Space Systems open joint-stock company [2] .
Died March 11, 2015 in Moscow [3] . Buried in the Pokrovsky cemetery of the capital.
Scientific activity
He was a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics. K. E. Tsiolkovsky , full member of the Russian Academy of Engineering [4] , International Informatization Academy [4] , full member of the International Academy of Engineering . The author of at least 170 scientific papers.
