Name Origin

The street is named after the staff of the All-Russian Extraordinary Commission to Combat Counter-Revolution and Sabotage and its local units.

Location and amenities

Chekistov street runs from the north-north-east to the south-south-west between the streets of Teachers and Mendelev, starting from the junction with the street of July and ending at the street Vilonova [1] [2] . Crosses with Sulimova street . On the street on the left overlooks the Shali Lane . The length of the street is about 750 meters. The width of the carriageway is one lane in both directions.

Throughout the street there is one unregulated pedestrian crossing. On both sides (but not along its entire length) the street is equipped with sidewalks .

History

Chekistov Street was planned in 1927-1928 and is indicated on the maps of Sverdlovsk in 1929 and 1932 as being built up. The city maps of 1939 and 1942 already show the street development on the odd side. On the city map of 1947, the street is shown as completely built up by private houses. Since the 1950s, it has been built up with multi-apartment buildings.
