Biography
Born on May 27, 1923 in the city of Spassk ( Bednodemyanovsk in the years 1925–2005) of the Tambov province in a peasant family. Russian. After graduating from 9 classes, he worked as an accountant at a tannery in the city of Spassk-Ryazan, Ryazan Region.
In the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army since October 1941. In 1942 he graduated from the accelerated course of the Podolsk Military Infantry School, evacuated to the city of Ivanovo . On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War from October 1942. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944.
The platoon commander of the 173rd Guards Rifle Regiment (58th Guards Rifle Division, 5th Guards Army, 1st Ukrainian Front) Guards Lieutenant Dmitry Ivanov distinguished himself in battle on January 20, 1945. On this day, despite the enemy's hurricane fire, the first officer in charge of the unit entrusted to him broke into the village of Boronów, located south-west of the Polish city of Czestochowa , destroying dozens of Nazis. After that, a platoon of guard lieutenant Dmitry Ivanov crossed the Oder River north of Oppeln (now Opole , Poland), captured a bridgehead near the town of Guttentag (now Dobrodzen , Poland) and held him until the main forces of the 173rd Guards Rifle Regiment approached.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945 (published in the Pravda newspaper of June 29, 1945, No. 154 [9925]) for exemplary performance of combat tasks of command on the front of the struggle against the German fascist invaders and displayed courage and heroism Guards Lieutenant Ivanov Dmitry Pavlovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal (No. 6044).
After the war, D. P. Ivanov continued his military service. In 1951 he graduated from the officer development courses. Since 1969, Colonel D. P. Ivanov has been in reserve.
He lived in the city of Voronezh, worked at the Voronezh Polytechnic Institute . He died on June 24, 1985 . Buried in the Southwest Cemetery .
