Arsanov, Saidbey Arsanovich ( October 2, 1889 , Novye Atagi , Chechnya , Terek Region , Russian Empire - July 12, 1968 ) - Chechen writer, chairman of the Writers' Union of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic .

Biography

Born in the family of a farm laborer in the village of Novye Atagi (now the Shali district of Chechnya ) on October 2, 1889. His sister is the heroine of Chechnya Fatima Arsanov . He graduated from a four-year school in Vladikavkaz . Then he studied at the Odessa Electrotechnical College, at the Polytechnic Institute in St. Petersburg . For participation in student unrest, he was expelled from the institute and sent to the Vyatka province . From there, he went to Germany , where he worked at a factory.

With the outbreak of World War I, Arsanov returned to Russia. He participated in the battles against the army of Kolchak . Since 1921 he worked in Chechnya. In 1925 he founded the first Chechen newspaper, Serlo . In 1930 he became the creator of the Grozny Association of Proletarian Writers. In 1925 - 1933 he held various posts in Chechnya, then became a representative of the Chechen Autonomous Region under the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the USSR. In 1936 - 1937 he headed the Chechen Research Institute.

In 1937, Arsanov was illegally convicted and exiled to Kolyma . After serving his term in 1945 , he settled in Alma-Ata , where his deported family lived. During his stay in Kazakhstan, Arsanov was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the Alma-Ata city and regional councils. In 1957 he returned to his homeland, where he headed the Writers' Union of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . In 1959 he retired.

Creativity

The first works of Arsanov were published in 1926 . His largest work was the historical novel “When Friendship Is Known”, published in 1956, which tells about the revolutionary struggle of the Chechen , Ingush and Russian peoples. The author worked on this novel for more than 30 years. Its first chapters began to be published back in the 1930s . The novel received a positive review by Alexander Fadeev :

 This is the first Soviet novel about the Highlanders, in which there is no false traditional exoticism, and the Highlanders are served with genuine knowledge of their life and psyche. Undoubtedly, it will endure more than one publication and will be read with special interest by our youth. 

Arsanov also wrote a number of essays and short stories, which were published in the collections “On Chechnya”, “Silvery Smile”, etc.
