David H. Trump ( born David H. Trump ; 1931 - August 31, 2016 ) is a British archaeologist from the University of Cambridge. He specialized in archeology of the Mediterranean as a whole, and in particular in the prehistoric and early Roman era of Italy (Sardinia, Sicily, southern Italy) and Malta.

Biography
He was engaged in excavations in Malta since 1954, first as an assistant to John Davis Evans during excavations of the megalithic temple of Ggantius on the island of Gozo . In 1958-1963 he held the position of Keeper of the National Museum of Archeology of Valletta in Malta, developed a program of archaeological excavations, during which the first excavations of another megalithic monument, Sorrow , were carried out.
He was the first to use radiocarbon dating in the Maltese excavations, which made it possible to discover two new phases of the preliterate history of Malta , now known as the “red Sorrow” and “gray Sorrow” phases (in color of the ceramics).
In recent years, he conducted research on prehistoric relations between the islands of Sicily and Malta in the prehistoric period, explored the megalithic circle of Shaar (Xaghra), and guided tours of megalithic monuments of Malta [3] .
