Biography
The representative of the people of Ijo . Primary education in school, then he studied at the prestigious state college in Ughelli .
Graduate of the University of Ibadan . While studying at the university, he began to publish a student's poetic journal The Horn, where his first poems appeared. After graduating from the university with a degree in English philology in 1960, he began his career as a writer and journalist, working in the Nigerian government news agency.
Since 1966 - teacher of English at the University of Lagos , professor of this university.
Since 1968. - Chief Editor of the largest in Africa literary magazine "Black Orfuus."
He worked in the Lagos newspaper “Daily Express” (Russian “Daily Express”), studied the epic and legends of his people Ijo, was engaged in research work in one of the US universities.

Author of poetry collections: "Poems" (1962), "Reed in high tide" (1965), "Losses" (1970), journalistic book "America, their America" (1964), books of critical articles and essays about literature "The Shakespeare Case" (1970) and others
As a result of long-term studies of folklore, he published the monograph Saga of Ozidi (1977) and his best play Ozidi (1966).
Most famous as a playwright: the trilogy "Song of the Goat" (1961), "Masquerade" and "Raft" (1964). In his work he focuses on folklore, ancient Greek drama and aesthetics of existentialism .
