Alva Belmont ( Eng. Alva Belmont , January 17, 1853 - January 26, 1933 ), née Alva Erskine Smith, ( Eng. Alva Erskine Smith ), a well-known figure of the movement of suffragists , possessor of a significant fortune. She was distinguished by aristocratic manners and rejection of the opinions of other people. She is also known for her energy, intelligence, upholding her point of view.

In 1875 she married William Kissam Vanderbilt , from whom she had three children:
- Consuelo ( 1877 - 1964 ), the famous beauty who married the 9th Duke of Marlborough .

- Harold Stirling ( 1884 - 1970 )
After a divorce from William Kissam, she married Oliver Hezard Perry Belmont, an old friend of her first husband.
