Biography
Ivan Burmakov was born on November 11, 1899 in the village of Pogoreltsy (now the Semenovsky district of the Chernihiv region of Ukraine ) into a peasant family [2] .
Before serving in the army, Burmakov worked in basket shops in the villages of Topalevka and Pogoreltsy, Chernihiv Province [3] .
Military Service
Civil War
In October 1918, he voluntarily entered the 4th Nezhinsky Regiment of the 1st Ukrainian Insurgent Division (from December - the 1st Ukrainian Soviet). He participated with him in battles with the Petliurites near Chernigov, Nizhyn, Kiev, Fastov, Berdichev, Vinnitsa and Zhmerynka. In September 1918, after the merger of the 1st Ukrainian Soviet Division with the 44th Rifle, he continued his service in the 388th Rifle Regiment. In its composition, the Red Army and machine gun commander fought with Denikin’s troops in the Kiev, Chernihiv, Podolsk provinces, as well as against the White Poles near Mozyr, Korosten, Ovruch. Interwar years
In April 1921, Burmakov was sent to study at the 2nd Kiev school of red stars . After its disbandment in September 1922, he was transferred to the 5th Kharkiv Unified School of Chervona Elders named after WUCIC. WWII

Post-War Career
After the war, Major General Burmakov continued to command the 31st Guards Rifle Division in the Special, and since March 1946, the Baltic Military Districts.
