Since 1940 - a foreman engineer, then head of the water supply sector at the Giprostal Institute ( Kharkov ).
Since 1945, he worked on the problems of cooling metallurgical units.
Since 1947 - the head of the research group, since 1949 - the head of the evaporative cooling sector at the Giprostal Institute.
Since 1958 - Deputy Director of the Giprostal Institute for Research. Doctor of Technical Sciences , Professor (1961)
In 1967-1975 - Director of the All-Russian Research Institute for the Purification of Technological Gases, Wastewater and the Use of Secondary Energy Resources of Iron and Steel Enterprises.
Since 1975 - professor at the Kharkov Institute of Public Utilities Engineers.
Scientific activity
S. M. Andonyev is a specialist in the field of heat engineering of ferrous metallurgy, an inventor with 100 copyright certificates and patents.
The author of the development of the evaporative cooling system of metallurgical furnaces. In 1946, he invented a cooling system for metallurgical furnaces with steam, which is used today throughout the world [1] . For his invention - “Method for cooling metallurgical furnaces” S. M. Andonyev received the copyright certificate, and a little later patented it. Since the system was very profitable, foreign plants began to buy a license from the Soviet Union to use it. First came Japan , then the USA , Switzerland , Sweden , England , France , the states of Europe and America, Australia .
The main works of the scientist in the field of research on industrial water supply and cleaning of air and water pools.
Head of work on the development and development of a new open-hearth furnace system.
Selected Papers
Author of 110 publications, including 10 monographs:
- Evaporative cooling of metallurgical furnaces. The main provisions. (textbook for metallurgical universities) (1961),
- Evaporative cooling of metallurgical furnaces (1970),
- Blast furnace cooling (et al. 1972),
- Cleaning water and air pools at the enterprises of ferrous metallurgy (1972),

Memory
- In Kharkov, on the building of the Energostal Scientific and Technical Center, a bronze memorial sign to the scientist S. M. Andonyev was opened.
Notes
- ↑ [1] According to the recollections of the son of the scientist V. S. Andonyev, Andonyev had less than two weeks to develop a project of national importance: “When the Aktobe ferroalloy plant was almost ready, it turned out that there was no source of water supply on the territory of the plant. And for metallurgy, water supply is like a heat source for producing metal. Because no structures can withstand thousands of degrees, they must be cooled. And my father and the People's Commissar of Metallurgy were summoned to Moscow to L.P. Beria . And he set a deadline: within three weeks to find a source of water supply. But my father flew there on an airplane, because he was called, and he went back to Kazakhstan , so to speak, on crossroads. While he arrived, half the time passed. And two days before the deadline, the source of water supply was found. ”
