History

Transformed for differences in the battles of May 4, 1943 from the 226th Infantry Division of the 1st formation.

During the Great Patriotic War, she fought on the Kursk Bulge , liberated Left-Bank Ukraine, Silesia and Czechoslovakia. She participated in the Kirovograd , Umansko-Botoshanskoy , Lviv-Sandomierz , Lower Silesian , Upper Silesian , Berlin and Prague operations.

Battle Path

After the end of the fighting in Stalingrad, together with other units of the army, was withdrawn to the reserve of the Supreme Command Headquarters. In the summer of 1943 she took part in the Battle of Kursk. In the defensive battle of the Voronezh Front fought west of Prokhorovka, during which the personnel of the formation acted with great courage. In August - September 1943 the division participated in the Sov. troops in the Belgorod-Kharkov direction and the liberation of Left-Bank Ukraine. For the difference in the battles during the liberation of Poltava, she was given the honorary title of Poltava (September 23, 1943). In late September, the division went to the river. The Dnieper and in cooperation with other connections of the front liberated the city of Kremenchug . From October 1943 she led offensive battles in Right-Bank Ukraine.

For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and the valor and courage shown by the personnel, it was awarded the Order of the Red Banner (December 10, 1943), and for its distinction in battles in the area of ​​the town of Novo-Ukrainka, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky of the 2nd degree (March 29 1944). On the night of April 13 1944 division on the move forced the river. The Dniester also captured a bridgehead in the region of Pugochen (south of Grigoriopol ).

In the Lviv-Sandomir offensive operation, she participated in the defeat of the enemy's Mieletsk group and in the battles for the Sandomir bridgehead.

The division successfully operated in 1945 in the battles for the liberation of Polish territory from the Nazi-German invaders. In the Sandomierz-Silesian offensive operation on January 12, in cooperation with other units of the army, she broke through the prepared defenses of the enemy in the Yastshenbets area, on January 14 forced the r. Nida near the town of Pinchów, January 16 p. Pilica near the town of Konetspol , on January 21, liberated the city of Kreizburg ( Kluchborek ), and in a day crossed the r. Oder ( Audra ).

In the battles for Kreizburg, the reconnaissance officer of the 287th Guards Rifle Regiment (the former 987th Regiment) private N.I. Rigachin repeated the feat of A. Matrosov, closing the embrasure of the enemy fire works with his chest. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

The decisive and skillful actions of units of the division during the Sandomierz-Silesian operation, the valor of its soldiers, especially when breaking through the enemy’s defense from the Sandomierz bridgehead, were marked by awarding the Union with the Order of Lenin (Feb. 19, 1945). In February - March, the division fought to encircle the large enemy forces in the city of Breslau and destroy its Opplem group. In April - early May, she participated in the Berlin offensive operation.

For high combat skills during the breakthrough of the Neisen defensive line, she was awarded the Order of Suvorov of the 2nd degree (May 28, 1945).

The division completed its combat path in the Prague operation. During the feats of arms during the Great Patriotic War, 14 thousand division soldiers were awarded orders and medals, and 12 of them were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
