Design
Clover egg is made in modern style . Its shape is formed by a pattern of stems and leaves of clover. Some leaves are filled with light green transparent enamel, and some leaves are decorated with small diamonds. Thin ribbons set out by rubies curl between the leaves. Along the edge between the upper and lower halves of the egg, hidden by leaves, there is an openwork rim with images of the imperial crown, date “1902” and the monogram of Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. The egg stands on an elegant golden stand with three legs and brackets of smoothly curved stems. The small clasp inside the egg probably contained a surprise in place [2] .
Surprise
During the years of the revolution, the surprise was lost, but according to archival documents, it was a precious four-leaf clover decorated with 23 large diamonds with four miniature portraits of the daughters of Nicholas II : Olga , Tatyana , Maria , Anastasia [1] .
History
This egg symbolizes the dream of Nicholas II: a happy union with his wife, love and family [3] .
Received from the Moscow Partnership in 1927. Since 1933, it has been stored in the Armory of the Kremlin [2] . The egg is very fragile, and because of this, it is not transported to other places for exposure [2] .
