Portuguese legend Eusebio played for Minuteman in 1975, just like the famous American football player Shep Messing.
Minutman started well, winning the Northern Division championship in his first season, collecting more than 9,000 fans for the match at the Pupils Stadium, finished in 5th position in the championship. They lost in the playoffs to the league champion, the Los Angeles Aztex . When Eusebio arrived in Boston in 1975 (by this time the team moved to Nickerson Field), it seemed that everything would continue in the same vein. Although the team won the Northern Division championship again, attendance was half what it was. In the playoffs, Minutman lost to Miami in extra time.
For 1976, the owner of the team, John Sturge, announced that the Minutman would move, this time to the Harvard Stadium, but the deal fell through before the start of the season, and the team finished changing stadiums. By this time, Sturge had begun to experience financial difficulties in dealing with securities transactions on exchanges, and was forced to sell many players, including Eusebio, who eventually went to Toronto Metros Croes . Attendance fell sharply, “Minutman” lost the last 12 matches and after the end of the season was disbanded.
