Biography

Valid Privy Advisor. He entered service in 1742 in the Life Guards Semyonovsky Regiment; since 1762, he was included in the commission for the construction of St. Isaac's Cathedral, traveled many times to places adjacent to Ladoga and Onega lakes, looking for building materials and at the same time discovered many breeds of excellent building materials previously unknown in Russia. August 19, 1768, Mr .. promoted to state councilors , in 1772 he was appointed a member of the commission on the structures of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities . Under his closest guidance, Moscow’s plan was completed and a project to improve its structures was drawn up. With the establishment (July 15, 1775) of the Stone Order in Moscow, he was appointed its chief with the production of acting state councilors. One of the reasons for the establishment of the order was the devastating fire of 1773, after which it was necessary to erect many new buildings in Moscow. The order was obliged to take care of the delivery of building materials to Moscow in a sufficient quantity, allowed all new buildings, according to the special instruction given in this regard, and also monitored their production and the relations of workers and employers; under the supervision of the Order, many public buildings were erected and the walls of Kitai Gorod were repaired. The order was closed on November 20, 1786. From December 22, 1783 Kozhin was present in the Workshop and the Armory. September 22, 1786 was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 2 tbsp., January 1, 1791 received the rank of Privy Councilor , April 8, 1797 the order of St. Anne I step., February 25, 1801, the rank of Actual Privy Councilor.
