
1898 coin, Dupuis coin type
The Dupuis coin type is the design of French coins, named for the engraver Daniel Dupuis (1849-1899).
Dupuis type coins were issued from 1898 to 1921 at the Paris Mint .
Basically, coins of this type had a face value of 1, 2, 5, and 10 centimes. On the obverse of the coin is a Republic in a Phrygian cap. The circular legend "French Republic", signed by Daniel Dupuis. On the reverse side of coins 1 and 2 centimes is a circular legend “Freedom. Equality. Brotherhood".
On the reverse side of coins of 5 and 10 centimes there is a circular legend “Freedom. Equality. Brotherhood". The Republic sits on the rock on the left, holds the flag in its right hand, in the left - the olive branch (below the coin denomination), to the right of it is a child.
