History
The village dates back to 1728 , when the Tsezheysky border guard was founded on this site.
For this, several families of Russian Cossacks moved here from Kyakhta. Here, along with Russian Cossacks, Buryats and Cossacks also served. Mikhailovskaya Secondary School, one of the oldest in the region, was opened in 1894 as a parish school.
Title
The chief of the guard was Ataman Mikhailov, whose last name, apparently, was the village and received the name. According to another version, a church was built in the village and lit on the day of St. Michael. Until 1916, the village was called Tsezheysky Cossack village.
