History
The status of a city county was assigned in 1986.
Nature
In the vicinity of Lichuan, metasequoia grows - a unique plant listed in the International Red Book . [one]
Transport
Lichuan is an important railway junction for communication between Shanghai and Wuhan in the east, and Chongqing and Chengdu in the west.
A high-speed passenger line Shanghai - Wuhan - Chengdu passes through the city. The Yichang - Wanzhou section was commissioned in 2010. In 2012, the completion of the Chongqing-Lichuan branch is expected .
The Lichuan Highway 318 runs through Shanghai , connecting Shanghai and Tibet all the way to the Nepal border.
