Andrei Ivanovich Vorobyov (born November 1, 1928 , Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian hematologist , academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1986) and RAS (2000), professor, doctor of medical sciences , director of the Research Institute of Hematology and Intensive Care [2] , head of the department hematology and intensive care of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (RMAPO). First Minister of Health of the Russian Federation .

Biography

He was born in a family of Bolshevik revolutionaries with prior revolutionary experience: doctor Ivan Ivanovich Vorobyov (executed on December 20, 1936) and biologist Maria (Mira) Samuilovna Kizilstein (sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1937). [3]

  • From 1943 to 1944 he worked as a painter, electrician [4] .
  • From 1947 to 1953 he studied at the 1st Moscow Medical Institute .
  • At the institute he married Inna Pavlovna Kolomoitseva, in 1953, son Ivan (now a professor, biologist) was born, in 1958 - son Pavel (now a professor, a doctor).
  • From 1953 to 1956 he worked as a doctor in the Volokolamsk regional hospital, where he was involved in therapy, obstetrics, pathological anatomy, and pediatrics. There, his wife worked as a neurologist.
  • In 1956 he entered the clinical residency of Professor Joseph Abramovich Kassirsky in the Department of Hematology of the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Studies.
  • Since 1961, he was a participant in the biological workshop of I. M. Gelfand [5] .
  • In 1966, A. I. Vorobyov was appointed head of the clinical department of the Institute of Biophysics of the USSR Ministry of Health.
  • In 1971 he became head of the Department of Hematology and Intensive Care at the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Studies. Dismissed in 2018 .
  • In 1986, he was the initiator of the creation and a member of the government medical commission for the Chernobyl accident.
  • In 1987 - was elected an academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR.
  • In 1987, he was appointed director of the Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, which was later transformed into the Hematology Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences . He worked in this post until 2011.
  • In 1990-1991 - People's Deputy of the USSR.
  • From 1991 to 1992 - Minister of Health of the RSFSR - of the Russian Federation [6] [7] , then was briefly and. about. Minister [8] .
  • In 2000, he was elected an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Biological Sciences.

Public position

He opposed the recognition of the leading role of Stalin in the victory in the Great Patriotic War , stating that Stalin himself was largely the cause of the 1941 disaster, in which he began to play a fatal role long before it erupted [9] .

In 2019, after a high- profile case by Ivan Golunov, he turned to the President of the Russian Federation with a proposal to review all sentences under articles on drugs: “Who else could have been illegally arrested, innocently convicted, received incomparable punishment for these articles? The case of Ivan Golunov again raised the question of repressive drug policy in the Russian Federation. The answer should be a radical reform of the criminal prosecution system for drug-related crimes ” [10] . In support of the appeal of Andrei Vorobyov, dozens of scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences made [11] .

A.I. Vorobyov is the author of about 400 scientific works, including monographs, textbooks and study guides. The most important scientific papers:
