Carla Cristina Martins da Costa ( port Karla Cristina Martins da Costa ) (born August 25, 1978 , Brasilia , Brazil ) is a Brazilian basketball player playing the role of an attacking defender . Three-time participant of the Olympic Games ( 2004 , 2008 and 2012 ). Repeated medalist of the American Championship in the Brazil national basketball team .

Biography
Carla da Costa was born into a sports family, her dad was the head of a local sports club and, under the influence of his uncle and cousins, Carla began to practice basketball. In 1994, Carla got the opportunity to play for the professional club from Campinas Ponte Preta. Here she played the first matches at the adult level and began to be constantly attracted to the national team of various ages. In Brazilian teams, the basketball player won many titles, including 4 times she became the champion of Brazil . In 2012, in Ecuador, she and the team won the club championship of South America , Carla was recognized MVP tournament [1] , gaining 17.5 points on average per match [2] . For three consecutive years, the basketball player has been included in the “symbolic five” of the national championship (2012 [3] , 2013 [4] , 2014 [5] ).
Career in Europe
After the end of the São Paulo State Championship , Carla came to Novosibirsk in January 2004 to play for the local Dynamo Energy team , where another Brazilian, Helen Luz , had already played. About the game period in Siberia [6] :
I managed to overcome difficulties, with ease and humor. Now I have the impression that I can live anywhere. As for basketball, the Russians play with less contact, more on accuracy than on strength, as I ran and delivered. During these three months, I learned to play a more rhythmic game and my vision improved.
Together with the team, Karla took 4th place in the Championship and Cup of Russia .
The following year, after the end of the Brazilian Championship (7th place), in February 2005, da Costa arrived in Poland to play for MTK from Pabianice in the national championship. The result was 4th place in the Polish Championship .
