Biography
After studying at schools in Odessa and Krakow , he studied economics at the University of Heidelberg . He began to study the art of painting at the School of Drawing in Warsaw under the direction of Wojciech Gerson . In 1880 he studied for a short time in Florence , in November of the same year Klechinsky entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He also took private lessons at school with Jozef Brandt .
In 1888, the artist returned to his homeland and began to work as a manager of estates, in 1889 he was engaged in horse breeding in one of the estates of Podolia. In 1918 he moved to Krakow.
Creativity
Bogdan Klechinsky - the author of paintings in which he sang the nature of Ukraine, wrote mainly genre scenes from the life of Little Russian villages and villages, the steppes of Ukraine. The scenes of his paintings were colorful scenes of hunting, horsemen, sleigh rides, attacks of wolf packs, etc.
A popular recurring theme of B. Klechinsky's paintings was horses, which the artist “thoroughly studied.” In addition, Klechinsky is a talented landscape painter . In his work, which was formed during the training with J. Brandt, you can find the influence of Juliusz Kossak , Alfred Kowalski-Werush and Jozef Helmonsky .
In 1888, the artist took part in an anniversary exhibition in Munich, and sent his works to Polish national exhibitions in Warsaw and Krakow (1881, 1883). His paintings were very successful, were sold in the United States and England.
Today, paintings by B. Klechinsky of only the Munich period are known. Paintings of a later period created in Ukraine, for the most part, were lost during the First World War.
