Biography
Born on May 16 ( May 29 ), 1906 in Moscow . In 1928 he graduated from the Moscow Land Surveying Institute (formerly Konstantinovsky).
In 1928-1931 he remained to work at the Land Surveying Institute, organizing a phototriangulation workshop for this period.
Since 1931 he worked at TsNIIGAiK .
Since 1938, he taught at the V.V. Kuybyshev Military Engineering Academy , from 1941 - at MIIGAiK , where he headed the department of photogrammetry until 1971 . Doctor of Technical Sciences (1943), Professor (1944).
He died on March 6, 1987 . He was buried in Moscow at the Vvedensky cemetery .
Scientific and technological achievements
He contributed to the development of advanced technologies for mapping the country on a small and medium scale . He developed, in particular, a method for constructing topographic maps using elements of external orientation.
In 1952, the STD-1 topographic stereometer was modernized (designed by F.V. Drobyshev (1894-1986), developed in 1934, serial production started in 1935). M. D. Konshin developed the design of two additional correctors, which increased the accuracy of the stereometer. The upgraded model was called STD-2.
