Located 2.5 km from the border of Tver , stretching between the Moscow highway and the Volga River . From the east - the village of Emmaus . Beyond the Volga is the Poddubye village.
According to the 2002 census, the population was 81, 32 men, 49 women.
During the Great Patriotic War in December 1941, the seizure of the bridgehead and the organization of the Poddubye — Gorokhovo ferry by the troops of the 31st Army played an important role in the liberation of Kalinin .
“At 3 am on December 5, the forward battalions of the first-echelon divisions of the 31st Army rushed over the ice to the right bank of the Volga to capture bridgeheads in the Peremerki, Gorokhov, Staro-Semenovskoy settlements and thereby ensure that the main forces of the army overcome the water line.
