The old bridge over the Sava was built in 1942 by the Germans, replacing the bridge of Alexander I after the bombing of Belgrade in April 1941. After the war, it was called the German bridge . In 1984, a tram was launched on it, connecting the old city with Block 45 in the Novi Belgrade community [1] . The construction of the bridge, which began on October 13, 2007, was completed on March 31, 2008 and was open to traffic [2] . According to estimates made before work, the bridge's throughput capacity was to reach 30 thousand cars per hour [3] .
